Happy Holidays from Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

Tuesday, December 24th, 2013

This past year was the first time I had heard of Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, and now it’s one of our family’s favorite places. As 2013 comes to an end, it’s great to look back on all the fun from this last year.

Ragnar Trail Relay – April

The Ragnar Relay hosted by Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort this last April was an event never to be forgotten. And it’s coming back! Zion Ponderosa will be hosting another Ragnar Trail race April 24-26, 2014.

Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks – June

Summer is the busiest time of year at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, and for good reason. The weather is warm, Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park are close, and the activities offered on site are above and beyond anything else in the area. It’s a beautiful place to be.

Family Reunion – August

At our family reunion this August, all 52 of us had a blast at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. We hiked and biked in Zion National Park, rode UTVs, horses and climbed the rock wall and got massages. We even watched a Rodeo and danced the night away at a Barn Dance. It was a great vacation and tons of fun.

Couples Getaway – October

My husband and I enjoyed a quiet fall break by spending a weekend at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. The changing colors at Zion National Park were amazing as well as catching the sunset from the porch of our Cabin Suite.

We were lucky the US government shutdown of National Parks ended October 16, 2013 just a few days before we came, but even if we hadn’t been able to see Zion National ParkZion Ponderosa Ranch Resort had plenty of activities to keep us busy.

Thank you for sharing part of 2013 with us. We hope to see you all again soon. Happy Holidays from Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort.

Where to Stay at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

Monday, October 21st, 2013

Hello fellow visitors to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort! Allow me to introduce myself.  I’m Susan Strayer – an outdoors woman with two kids, a garage full of gear and a house in the mountains. I love Utah’s National Parks, so I was thrilled to discover Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort during a recent family reunion.

For us, a family reunion is no small feat – there are forty two of us total. We try to get together every year, but it’s getting harder and harder to find places that can accommodate such a crowd. But at Zion Ponderosa Resort, my parents, all my siblings (there are nine of us), our spouses and kids, all fit easily. We convened for one long weekend to visit, sight see and try to relax amid the mass of playing children.

The Moose Lodge, where we stayed, had eight separate bedrooms, a bunk area for the kids and an amazing industrial kitchen. It was easy access to the amenities of Zion Ponderosa Resort and surprisingly comfortable for forty two guests. It’s rare to find a place that can fit us all without feeling like we’re living on top of each other.

Moose Lodge

Apparently Moose Lodge isn’t the only vacation home rental either. The options at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort include everything from a small two bedroom Overlook cabin to the 6,000 square foot Zion Ridge Family Lodge. There’s a huge range of sizes and amenities that would fit any crowd.  We were so impressed with Moose Lodge, my husband and I are coming back to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort to try out some of their other housing options.

Cabin Suite

Cabin Suite

As an outdoors family, our normal accommodations are sleeping bags and our trusty dome tent. Tent and RV camping sites are options at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, but this time around I think I’d rather sleep on a bed – in one of the resort’s log cabins. The Cowboy Cabins are like having a private bedroom complete with a porch overlooking the beautiful surroundings. The larger Cabin Suites each have a private bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room with sleeping space for up to six. And right now there’s a 20 – 40% discount on lodging if you book a two night stay!

I’m excited to try out the more intimate space and spend some time in the beauty of that area with my husband. Zion Ponderosa Resort seems like the perfect place for a fun filled weekend getaway. Can’t wait!

Recent Photographs and Publicity

Recently we hosted a photographer by the name of Hillary Fox at Zion Ponderosa.   She spent some time shooting some excellent photos of our facilities and our setting, and she also provided her perspective of her experience on various social media outlets.

Enjoy some of the photographs below and links to the publicity:
