What our guests say!

Monday, February 25th, 2013

From time to time we receive photos and comments from our guests about their experience at Zion Ponderosa.  This photo is of a group that stayed recently at Zion Ponderosa and took a minute to have their photo taken in front of the fireplace in our main lodge.   They also took a nice photo of our two-tierred swimming pool at night.

Zion Ponderosa Spring Opening Coming Soon

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

While our vacation homes are open year-round, our main operations including smaller cabins, dining, recreation, and other services open March 11, and a record number of guests are already scheduled to enjoy time with us this year.

Spring Vacation in Utah

Flowers spread across the grassy areas of the Zion plateau.

With Easter coming in late March guests wanting to stay at Zion Ponderosa, during this weekend, may want to make reservations now, as this is frequently a time that we fill all of our lodging options.   Visitors love the early spring in Zion as the flowers begin to bloom in the canyon, and early grasses and leaves begin to bring green back to the area.  These vibrant colors contrast beautifully with the red rock, and provide a magnificent setting in Zion National Park.   Later in the spring we’ll see the color return to the plateau region around Zion Ponderosa.  Learn more about flora at Zion National Park

Zion Vacation

At 6,500 feet in elevation, Zion Ponderosa is approximately 2,500 feet above the Zion National Park main canyon floor, and this elevation change offers different temperatures from the valley floor.  In summer months this is a very good thing as we  offer much cooler temperatures on the plateau.   Summer nights at Zion Ponderosa are spectacular with cool breezes and clear night skies.

The 2013 season is almost here, and we encourage you to get your reservations now for what should be a great year of outdoor adventure and scenic splendor.  (Enjoy special package rates…more…)

The Weather is Changing on us

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Being on top of a plateau isn’t easy – especially when summer ends and autumn can’t decide how long it will be.  Utah weather is so unpredictable, and in southern Utah and on top of a mountain doesn’t help much.  One weekend the sun was shining, kids were splashing in the pool, and ATV were zipping around the resort; the next day the wind was nippy and campers were scarce.  However, the guests who still come in the cold weather of autumn really prove their stuff.

As the clouds descend lower and lower upon the neighboring mountain, we cant help but stop and stare at the mystical beauty.  Although the summer is amazing in its daily hustle and bustle, autumn is magic in its own sense.  The leaves change to a bouquet of reds and yellows, while the recent rain leaves a smell of freshness in the air.

But as beautiful as autumn is, it quickly changes on us.  Flakes of snow fall lightly upon the ground as a warning of what’s to come.  The air is turning frigid and the fire is crackling in the fireplace.  Hot chocolate and coffee sales grow, as do the jacket sales.  The foreshadowing of winter brings excitement for something new.

While October is just beginning, and there yet to be more weeks of warm days, filled with hiking and play, we look forward to the new season and the new adventures we will take, like opening a Bed and Breakfast and starting education seminars.  The weather is changing, and so are we.
