Zion National Park and the surrounding area is one of the premiere places in the country for canyoneering. At Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, we recognize the unique opportunity our area has to offer, and our expert guides will help you make the most of your guided canyoneering adventure.

Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort offers guided canyoneering adventures for beginners through advanced, and every level of technical skill in between. If you’ve got the desire, we’ve got the gear — or bring your own, if you’ve been canyoneering before and are ready to explore somewhere new. Even for adventurers with no rappelling experience, our guides are trained to assist you and ensure your safety. Before even heading to the canyon, a guide will provide a complimentary rappelling lesson and allow you to practice on our outdoor climbing wall. Once everyone in your group is comfortable and ready to venture out, the group will be transported together to the canyon.

Canyoneering - Rappelling

Our experienced canyoneering guides are available to take Zion Ponderosa guests on half day or full day canyoneering adventures. Our most popular canyoneering tours are filled with beautiful scenery, hiking, multiple rappels and down climbs. Our half-day guided canyoneering tour offers two down climbs and three rappels. On our full-day canyoneering guided tour, you’ll experience eight rappels and three down climbs. We’re also adding new slot canyons to our guided tours, so you can experience something new each time you visit Zion Ponderosa.

Zion’s beautiful slot canyons are an endless source of adventure, and there are several amazing slot canyons located on surrounding BLM lands. Some of Zion’s most scenic wonders are hidden deep inside the slot canyons, accessible only by the adventurous spirits willing to rappel down. One of the most striking views of slot canyons occurs during peak daylight, when the sun reflects off the canyon walls and illuminates the deepest recesses. Take a look at some recent Zion Ponderosa guests raving about their canyoneering adventures:

For those new to canyoneering, the National Park Service describes canyoneering as a combination of “route finding, rappelling, problem solving, swimming and hiking.” Each canyoneering adventure experience is unique, and for many people it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But here at Zion Ponderosa, we’re positive that once you’ve tried it you’ll want to do it again!

Canyoneering is a truly incredible experience. Space for guided canyoneering trips is limited, so please call in advance to reserve a slot on your desired date and time. Learn more about Zion Ponderosa canyoneering trips and reserve your guided tour today!
