There’s so much to do in and around Zion National Park that you could easily spend a week or two (or more!). So how do you make the most of your time here with just a few days to spare? We have a fun two-night/three-day itinerary to get you started on your adventure getaway!

Day 1—Arrive

Hiking the Zion Narrows

Is one day enough for Zion National Park? We suggest heading straight to Zion National Park to enjoy as much daylight as possible. Your first stop should be the Zion Visitor Center, where you can get updates on current conditions throughout the park, browse around the museum to learn a little about Zion’s present and past, then get ready for your first adventure! If conditions permit hiking the world-famous Narrows, rent neoprene boots and a walking stick and head up the Riverside Walk. This is a pleasant, easy hike to start your day and you’ll find the Narrows’ cool, inviting water waiting for you at the end of the trail. You’ll be in awe of the soaring slot canyon walls as you make your way in as far as you feel comfortable. Depending on water levels, you may get wet up to your waist but it’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day.

After your hike, return your gear to the Visitor Center, then head to Zion Ponderosa for check-in. Take some time to check out the property (golf cart rentals are available!) before or after dinner at our newly renovated Zion Ponderosa Eats. Then head back to your lodging or sign up for one of our stargazing tours at the recreation center. Sweet dreams!

Day 2—Adventure

You’re here for the scenery and the adventure so be sure to book any guided tours beforehand to make sure you don’t miss out. Our Elkheart UTV and canyoneering tour is a favorite, combining off-roading fun with breathtaking rappelling! This adventure meets at our Orderville Sinclair station, where you can also grab a delicious variety of sandwiches, pastries and coffee beverages at The Shop Coffee Co. If you prefer exploring on horseback, our White Mountain horseback adventure is for you. Enjoy a ride through to a secret slot canyon, where you’ll dismount and explore deeper into the slot canyon on foot.

Canyoneering with east zion adventures

After your morning or early afternoon adventures, go back to Zion National Park and check out the Emerald Pools hike, if time and crowds permit. Or, head back to Zion Ponderosa and take advantage of our on-property recreation—there’s so much to do! Book a Jeep tour (there are six to choose from!), pet the baby goats, play paintball or enjoy a round of mini-golf. Your free time can also be used for cooling off in our two-tiered pool, relaxing in the hot tub, or paddleboarding on our pond—this activity is free, just ask at our rec desk for paddles.

For lunch and dinner, fuel up with the best tacos this area has to offer at KikiDees Tacqueria truck conveniently located on Zion Ponderosa, or fire up the grill at your glamping campsite, cabin or vacation home. Then meet at our rec center for a Zion Sunset Jeep Tour. You’ve never seen the sun set over Zion like this.

Day 3 Checkout

Just because you’re checking out of your lodging doesn’t mean the fun has come to an end. Take the shuttle from Zion Ponderosa to Observation Point trailhead for a 6.5-mile roundtrip hike to one of THE best views in Utah. Or, consider extending your stay and making the 75-minute drive to Bryce Canyon National Park
