It’s May and there’s no shortage of things to do in the East Zion and Kanab area. Whether you’re staying at Zion Ponderosa or passing through on your Zion National Park trip, here are the top events happening near Zion this month:

May 1–3: Kanab Film Festival at Redstone Theatre
Celebrate three days of independent filmmaking at the Kanab Film Festival, showcasing local and international talent in the heart of red rock country. Don’t miss the scary movie screening inside Moqui Cave. 

May 3: Canyons Calling Summer Concert Series, 7:30 PM at Jacob Hamblin Park
Kick off summer with live music under the stars at Jacob Hamblin Park during the first Canyons Calling concert of the year. Free music and festivities for all ages, complete with food trucks, shade, and community.  

May 7–10: 2025 Red Rock Jamboree in Kanab with the Utah Arizona ATV Club
Explore the rugged backcountry on guided ATV rides during the Red Rock Jamboree, a multi-day off-roading event for outdoor enthusiasts.

May 8–11: Amazing Earthfest in Kanab
Join a celebration of nature, culture, and outdoor learning with hikes, films, lectures, and family-friendly activities during the Amazing Earthfest. It’s Southern Utah’s premiere festival of experiential learning, discovery, arts and adventure.

May 9–10: Ragnar Trail Zion at Zion Ponderosa
This high-energy team relay race brings runners to Zion Ponderosa’s backcountry trails for two days and one unforgettable night under the stars. Ragnar Zion is an annual event at Zion Ponderosa. Come for the run, stay for the fun!

May 10: Kanab Mother’s Day 10K Race
Lace up for a scenic 10K run through Kanab’s charming streets and red rock surroundings—registration is still open! All participants will receive a swag bag and race shirt, 7 a.m. at Kanab Center.

May 16: Utah 115 Ultra Marathon by Grand to Grand Ultra in Kanab
Test your limits at the Utah 115 Ultra Marathon that draws endurance runners from around the globe. This intense ultra marathon isn’t for the faint of heart—it’s designed for elite endurance runners ready to take on the desert’s toughest terrain.

May 24: First Saturday Farmers Market in Duck Creek Village (10 AM–2 PM)
Support local vendors and enjoy fresh produce, homemade goods, and artisan crafts.

May 30: PRCA Catori Canyon Heritage Rodeo, 7 PM at Kaneplex Arena
Experience the thrill of professional rodeo action with bull riding, barrel racing, and more at this heritage celebration in Kanab. The Kanab PRCA Rodeo is two action-packed nights  at the Kaneplex Arena in Kanab, Utah

Kanab Friday Market | Fridays, 9 a.m.–noon
Browse local produce and handmade goods at this casual open-air market held every Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Iron Horse Parking Lot in Kanab.

Kanab Farmers Market | Wednesdays, 5–8 p.m.
Locally grown produce, flowers, food and so much more! Sponsored by Utah State University. The Kanab Farmer’s Market is every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kane County Tourist Office parking lot.
