
Ragnar Zion is back, and we can’t wait to welcome runners, families, friends and fans to this exciting event! Held May 9-10, 2025, this two-day, one-night trail relay race features incredible trails, breathtaking scenery, late-night adventures under the stars, and a lively village atmosphere—all set right here on Zion Ponderosa.
What You Need to Know About Ragnar Zion 2025
- Race Start: Friday morning
- Race End: Saturday afternoon
Race Overview
- Total race distance: 124.8 miles
- Total elevation gain: 15,016 feet
- Each participant will complete three challenging loops, totaling about 15.6 miles per runner over the course of the event.
Teams can choose from two formats:
- Standard Team: 8 runners
- Ultra Team: 4 runners

Trail Loops
Each runner is required to complete the following loops:
- Green Loop: 4 miles, 300 feet elevation gain. This loop features grassy terrain and rolling hills—a fun warm-up for runners.
- Yellow Loop: 4 miles, 650 feet elevation gain. This loop features sandy stretches, steep climbs, and incredible views.
- Red Loop: 7 miles, 950 feet elevation gain. This loop starts with a rugged singletrack horse trail, ascends a ridge, and then descends with rollercoaster-like terrain.
Lodging Requirement
A three-night minimum stay (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) is required for all Zion Ponderosa lodging guests. This ensures runners have time to check in, relax, complete the race, and enjoy post-race amenities like showers, meals, relaxing in the pool, stargazing, and more.Â

This year, we’re excited to announce that Ponderosa Eats will be open, offering fresh meals to keep you fueled! Plus, The Trailhead will be celebrating its grand seasonal opening just in time for Ragnar weekend. Grab a bite, relax with your team, and enjoy a well-deserved meal after a day (and night!) on the trails.
You’ll also find food trucks, vendors, and a buzzing Ragnar Village vibe with music, merch, and more. Plus, our pool and hot tub are open—perfect for a quick cool-off or a much-needed soak.
Need a break between loops or planning to stay longer?
Enjoy Zion Ponderosa’s resort amenities plus the opportunity to experience some incredible East Zion Adventures guided tours. Runners, family and friends can book:

Important Ragnar Weekend Logistics
- Arrival: Teams can check in starting Thursday at 2 p.m. Be prepared for heavy vehicle traffic on North Fork Road.
- Parking: Overflow parking is available for $20. Overflow parking is located out on Twin Knolls, Fir and Beaver road, in the fields (on the way to Observation Point.
- Shuttle: Will be available to transport guests from parking fields back to the resort.
- Camping: Camping space is included with Ragnar registration If you’re camping, please note that it will be crowded, and vehicles cannot park at the campground. Campers will drop off their gear and then park the car in the overflow parking and shuttle back.Â
- Fire safety: Fires and personal fire pits are not permitted in the campground during Ragnar.
- EV Charging: EV chargers are located near the Green Drop Zone. Accessibility may vary depending on traffic.
