Zion Ponderosa is more than just convenient lodging near Zion National Park. As a family-owned business, we strive to create unforgettable memories for families, couples, and groups of all sizes.

“Wow, what an experience.”

One of our recent guests, Jesus Tavarez, summed up his experience in a guest review on Google and we’re thrilled to share his experience. Jesus initially planned to book a campground closer to Zion National Park’s famous Narrows. He found his way to Zion Ponderosa instead and—as he described it—it was the best move they could have made.

More than a Campground: Zion Ponderosa Amenities

The Tavarez family was pleasantly surprised to discover that Zion Ponderosa is more than a campground, with a wide variety of recreation and amenities. From the pool, pickleball courts and mini golf to rock climbing and blacksmithing, there’s something for everyone here. Not to mention the full-service restaurant, showers, and clean bathrooms, plus add-on adventures available through our on-property tour guides, East Zion Adventures

Tavarez Family Vacation

Day 1

Jesus and his family were paired with activity coordinator Angie. Their first day included a 7-mile hike above the Narrows to Observation Point, a view that left them in awe.

“2k feet above the river and it is a jaw dropper view.”

They were then treated to a host of fun lawn games by Nancy, and were introduced to pioneer activities like butter making and meeting Gordon the blacksmith.

“Nancy introduced herself and made us very welcome, gave us the lowdown…and invited us to more onsite activities like Butter Making! We then met Gordon the blacksmith. He entertained us with fun stories and he gifted my wife with a hummingbird!” —Jesus Tavarez

Day 2

After a full day hiking the Narrows from Springdale, the Tavarez party arrived back at Zion Ponderosa exhausted but highly satisfied from their adventure! They hit the hay early to prepare for their final day of Zion adventures.

“Second day we drove 45 min down the mesa to the narrows at Springdale. The drive is so gorgeous and we would have missed the views if we stayed in town. Narrows hike was absolutely epic…” —Jesus Tavarez

Day 3

After an early morning yoga session—”the best way to start the day”—Jesus and family left for Orderville to meet up for a UTV canyoneering adventure.

“Wild ride (I had white knuckles) down to the crimson slot canyons. Vibrant and interesting hike. History lesson and cool facts about the local rocks, trees and animals.” —Jesus Tavarez

Back at Zion Ponderosa—after a round of miniature golf, butter making, lawn games, and dinner at Ponderosa Eats—the Tavarez family culminated their unforgettable weekend with a night of stargazing. They joined a group of fellow Zion Ponderosa guests for a laser-guided tour of constellations, shooting stars, and satellites, a perfect ending to their extraordinary stay.

Great ending to a wonderful weekend. 10/10 staff and activities were so much fun. I recommend camping and signing up to everything you can. Incredibly affordable…Cannot wait until we bring back the rest of the family and convince friends that Ponderosa Ranch is the best way to spend a week at Zion.” —Jesus Tavarez
