October is synonymous with spooky, and here at Zion Ponderosa we have all types of spooktacular adventures waiting for our guests. Let’s begin with the most legendary, the tale of Jolley Gulch.

Jolley Gulch

Legend says that Jolley Gulch is haunted—it’s certainly one of the most popular trails on Zion Ponderosa. The trail winds through ponderosa pine forest, past the abandoned Jolley cabin, and ending at the dramatic and mysterious Jolley Gulch which flows south into Zion National Park. (Ask to hear the spine-tingling tale that inspired the rumor or read about it here.)  A short walk to the overlook allows for a peak into the dramatic gulch. Stay back from the edge of this 300-foot drop!

Abandoned Mine Hike

Abandoned Mine in East Zion, UtahA thrilling backcountry drive leads to the trailhead, then a short 1/4 mile hike past antique mine equipment to the mouth of the mine shaft. Enter if you dare! You’ll see historic mine cart tracks and the remnants of the mining operation. The abandoned mine hike is spooktaclular family-friendly fun!
