Where to Stay at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

October 21, 2013

Hello fellow visitors to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort! Allow me to introduce myself.  I’m Susan Strayer – an outdoors woman with two kids, a garage full of gear and a house in the mountains. I love Utah’s National Parks, so I was thrilled to discover Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort during a recent family reunion.

For us, a family reunion is no small feat – there are forty two of us total. We try to get together every year, but it’s getting harder and harder to find places that can accommodate such a crowd. But at Zion Ponderosa Resort, my parents, all my siblings (there are nine of us), our spouses and kids, all fit easily. We convened for one long weekend to visit, sight see and try to relax amid the mass of playing children.

The Moose Lodge, where we stayed, had eight separate bedrooms, a bunk area for the kids and an amazing industrial kitchen. It was easy access to the amenities of Zion Ponderosa Resort and surprisingly comfortable for forty two guests. It’s rare to find a place that can fit us all without feeling like we’re living on top of each other.

Apparently Moose Lodge isn’t the only vacation home rental either. The options at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort include everything from a small two bedroom Overlook cabin to the 6,000 square foot Zion Ridge Family Lodge. There’s a huge range of sizes and amenities that would fit any crowd.  We were so impressed with Moose Lodge, my husband and I are coming back to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort to try out some of their other housing options.

As an outdoors family, our normal accommodations are sleeping bags and our trusty dome tent. Tent and RV camping sites are options at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, but this time around I think I’d rather sleep on a bed – in one of the resort’s log cabins. The Cowboy Cabins are like having a private bedroom complete with a porch overlooking the beautiful surroundings. The larger Cabin Suites each have a private bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room with sleeping space for up to six. And right now there’s a 20 – 40% discount on lodging if you book a two night stay!

I’m excited to try out the more intimate space and spend some time in the beauty of that area with my husband. Zion Ponderosa Resort seems like the perfect place for a fun filled weekend getaway. Can’t wait!
